Greetings!

In this brief journey of 16 years, the institution has become highly recognized as a reputed brand of academic community and emerged as one of the best colleges in the field of education. This is the result of an immense collective efforts of all those involved.

The phenomenal achievement of David Memorial is mainly due to the dedicated service rendered by faculty members. It is a well known fact that buildings and equipment do not make an institution but the faculty is the soul of the institution.

With this in mind, the management has invited competent dedicated and well known academicians as faculty and they were the foundation pillars of the institution. They have been instrumental in developing the institution.

David Memorial has endeavored to offer the skills and knowledge that are needed to succeed in a world that is increasingly shaped and dominated by innovative learning process. We hope that our students and alumni take their experiences to create impact on school education.

David Memorial’s success is a testament to the guidance of our enterprising and industrious secretary, the hard work of our exuberant and learned correspondent, the efficiency of our diligent administration and staff, who work in the shadows to run things smoothly, and the mentoring of our stupendous faculty, who inspire and shape the teachers of tomorrow. Finally, and importantly, we are extremely proud of our alumni and the students who bear the flag of DMCEW around boosting the institution’s reputation.

We welcome you to be a part of our heritage and the David Memorial Family….

The Program

Established in the year 2002, under the leadership of our founding principal Dr. Sunanda Rao. This two year Bachelor of Education Degree Program trains young women graduates to become qualified and effective teachers at the high school level. This program is especially meant for the preparation of women teachers as there is dearth of women teachers in rural India, leading to poor enrolment of girl children into schools.

Structure

The one year course design is based on the changing trends in education and in the world. It consists of five core theory papers:

Philosophical and Sociological Foundations of Education
Psychological Foundations of Education
Educational Technology and Computer Education
School Management and Systems of Education
Personality Development and Communicative English

Each has a related practicum, which is done as an individual or a group project.

Each student also specializes in two methods of teaching related to her degree subjects. The optional areas offered are

Mathematics
Physical Sciences
Biological Sciences
Social Studies
All the students are assigned mentors to guide and council them throughout the program.

Special features / Value addition

Our students are from diverse economical, social, and religious backgrounds, The goals of David Memorial College of Education for Women are therefore manifold:

The first is to recognize the various rich socio-cultural backgrounds of the students.
The second is to highlight the special features of each subculture and work for mutual regard and respect among the groups.
The third is to promote interaction between the rural and urban students for mutual growth and benefit.
The fourth is to use the combined resources of all the students for further growth and development of the community in which the college      is situated and of the State.
The fifth is to equip the students with skills which will help them to perform effectively as teachers not only at the local level but even at the      global level.

To achieve this, while following the prescribed curriculum systematically, organizing talent competitions, undertaking remedial teaching for disadvantaged children, counselling for teens on health care and vocational guidance, participation in pre-school education programs for the under privileged children are some of the community projects undertaken by our students at the local level.

Learning English for communication, making presentation, participating in group discussions, seminars and projects, taking part in inter collegiate and inter- state competitions, organizing events etc., are all aimed at enhancing their skills to meet the global challenge.

We are proud to state that our students have consistently excelled at academics, recognized by the community and the media for their community work, and have found placements well before even the completion of their course work.
